Lauren works behind the scenes, bringing Ardent Training's courses to life - editing videos, refreshing existing content, and producing YouTube videos along the way. She's known to be a bit 'bossy' on set, but it's all in the name of getting the perfect shot. Ardent is more than just work; it's family - she's also founder Edd Hewett's sister.

"I know firsthand that learning something new isn't always straightforward, so I'm driven to make it clearer, simpler, and more accessible for others - turning complex ideas into something people can actually understand, and take out into the real world."

Instructor background:

Before joining Ardent Training, I worked in schools, where I spent many years finding different ways to help people understand and learn. It really shaped my belief that not everyone learns in the same way, and that things often need to be explained more clearly and simply than a teacher or instructor might realise.

I've brought that mindset into my role at Ardent, helping to create content that feels accessible and easy to follow. When I first started, my experience on the water was mostly limited to day trips on my brother's boat (how lucky am I to have a brother with a boat?!), so I've been able to see the courses through a complete beginner's eyes and spot where a bit more explanation is needed.

Hobbies & Interests:

I'm fortunate to be based down in Cornwall, where I live alongside some of our Ardent instructors and get to enjoy life by the sea in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. The only downside is the fairly epic commute for filming weeks on Mull!

Outside of work, I have a real passion for rock climbing, especially outdoors, and also enjoy the occasional surf (with varying success!), along with kayaking and long walks along the coast paths - you'd be hard pushed to get bored of them down here.
