Having worked on a range of international commercial, research, and expedition vessels, Charlie has an unbounded enthusiasm for the sea and for inspiring others. You'll find him delivering your training, answering your support queries, and hosting live sessions.

- Over 35,000 miles logged through the Atlantic, Pacific and Southern Oceans

Instructor background:
I began sailing on England's southeast coast, jumping aboard friend boats and loving the adventure. After graduating and getting a laboratory job I soon realised that inside life wasn't for me, so I earned my Day Skipper qualification and started gaining experience with yacht deliveries across Europe and further afield. Since then, I've sailed through the Atlantic, Pacific, and Southern Oceans on various research and expedition vessels.
Having had the pleasure to work on some once-in-a-lifetime trips, I've also seen firsthand why conservation and charitable work are so important. And so it's a privilege to give back to local and national causes where I can, and do my bit for our local RNLI.
Hobbies & Interests:
When I'm on land, Scotland it's in one of my favourite playgrounds. Rugged mountains, wild coastlines, and some fantastic wildlife. I love running (if I can!) through the mountains, its a great way to explore the West coast, whilst getting home in time to delve into a book or continue learning the bass guitar!

Pacific Research Expedition with the Sea Dragon
Pacific trade wind sailing was incredible, beaten only by the snorkelling and coral reef sampling in the Kiribati Marine Protected Area with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI)
Pelagic
Running Pelagic with Skipper Kirsten Neuchaffer, winner of the 2022 Golden Globe race, was pivotal in my sailing career. From a full boat refit in the Falklands, we spent a month in South Georgia hosting the BBC filming of Seven Worlds, One Planet.
Length of the Atlantic
Song of the Whale is a purpose-built marine conservation vessel, we surveyed 11,000 miles and this is where I also met Charly and Edd who gave me my first lessons in celestial navigation!
Bay of Biscay
My first delivery, first offshore trip, first gale, It filled me with terrified delight, and I loved every second of it (in retrospect!)
