We recently came across this amusing anecdote on the RYA website. It’s a perfect story of how one can get excited and carried away with buying a new boat and forget to learn how to sail it.
A new boat owner got so excited that he had just bought a new boat that he “got carried away getting the yacht all prepared and had forgotten he was booked on a Day Skipper course”.
The very next week he is on the VHF radio asking for help, and gets rescued by the very boat he was supposed to do his RYA Day Skipper course with!
